10HOPE
I consistently implement realistic small steps towards my vision.
Say it out loud. Say it until it’s true.
Where are you right now?
ENDURE has a range. Most people move across it throughout their lives.
Isolated / Afraid
Powerful / Inspired
When ENDURE needs attention
Confrontation costs too much and walking away feels safer than facing something head on. Life feels largely out of control so the focus stays on making it through each day as best as possible. The vision feels too far away to be useful. The steps feel too small to matter.
When ENDURE is strong:
Adversity does not stop you — it teaches you. You come out of hard seasons more certain of what you are capable of. You have enough evidence of your own consistency to trust that if you keep showing up the outcome will follow. The small steps do not feel small anymore because you have watched them add up.
Moving back toward the struggling side is not failure. That is the practice. The declaration exists for exactly those moments.
ENDURE is not about pushing through. It is about showing up consistently when the outcome is not yet visible.
Most people think endurance is about willpower. About gritting your teeth and forcing yourself forward when everything in you wants to stop. The Hart Habits framework sees it differently. ENDURE is not a personality trait you either have or do not have. It is a practice built from the Habits that came before it.
When you know yourself (SELF), when you can see clearly (TRUTH), when you have documented your vision (SHOW) and protected your energy (PROTECT) — endurance becomes the natural result of having a foundation. You do not have to white-knuckle it. You just have to take the next small step. And then the one after that.
The word that matters most in this Habit is realistic. Not the biggest step. Not the most impressive move. Not the one every one else can see and notice or have an opinion on. The one you have the capacity to actually take today. Consistently. Over time. That is what builds something that lasts.
ENDURE builds on everything that came before it – but most directly on SELF strengths, SHOW goals, and THOUGHTS focus. All three have to be working together for endurance to feel sustainable rather than exhausting. And it feeds directly into HOPE because consistent forward movement generates evidence that hope is warranted.
REALISTIC SMALL STEPS
The enemy of endurance is not laziness. It is over-ambition followed by collapse. When you set a step that is too large, you miss it, and then you use that miss as evidence that you cannot do this. Realistic small steps are not settling. They are strategy. Every step you complete builds the neural pathway that says: I do what I say I am going to do.
CONSISTENCY OVER INTENSITY
One hour every day beats ten hours one day a week. Showing up at the same level, even a modest level, over a long period of time produces results that bursts of intense effort almost never do. ENDURE is not asking you to do more. It is asking you to do something. Regularly. Without waiting to feel motivated.
YOUR VISION AS YOUR ANCHOR
On the days when the small steps feel pointless, you need something to return to. That is why SHOW comes before ENDURE. The vision you documented, the goals you wrote down, the progress you recorded – those are your anchors on the days when nothing feels like it’s working. You do not have to feel inspired. You just have to remember where you are going.
